but I'll make yet another attempt to return!
Why return?
it dawned upon me that I'm a person who needs an outlet for expression. And though I'm not good with words/english, it's sufficient to note things down.
Recent ' europe in a shoestring' posts by beiru served as my motivation to make an effort to jot things down.
So here I go again....
-this draft was from february-
it's been a real long time since I last blog about something.
I don't think procrastination has hit me stop hard in recent days
Ord was just 3 months ago but it sure feels like eternity, I don't know why
but definitely, I'm moving on to thee next phase of my life already
The older you get the more it sucks zzz
I wanna talk about 3 main events that happened for the past 3 months.
1.ord
2.cambodia cip trip + korea trip
1.ord
Just like what many people say things don't taste as sweet as you thought it out to be once you have it in your grasp
ord still do taste sweet nonetheless
army life wasn't exactly short when you're in the process off going through it
But on hindsight, it sure looks like it all passed really fast though this time round (unlike secondary school), I have no desire to repeat the entire process again.
It's too draining on me to reenact the torturous 2 years again
having said that, I did learn quite a bit from my two years stint in ns
before I enlisted, I hear people say they you will meet people from all walks of life
I didn't really comprehend how people can really differ by that much
But entering ns really opens up my perspective
this two years shall just go down as part of memory. There are still ten more cycle to go.
Let's move on.
-procrastinate for 2 months-
2.cambodia+ korea
korea, cambodia certainly did feel like a leg of Amazing race albeit less nerve racking.
the interval between my return flight from korea and departure for cambodia was a mere 6 hours only
I swore that was easily the busiest moment in the whole of 2010
Korea was lovely, less the getting motion sickness wherever I went feeling
But I honestly don't remember much of it, but that's where photographs serve it purpose.
Shan't recap much of the trip then.
Cambodia
I admit I was pretty reluctant to head to cambodia in the initial phase.
Having seen enough rural and wild during ns outfield, I thought I had my share of wilderness.
But then anyhow we were embarking as a group of friends, so no matter what, I had guaranteed fun in a way.
But I certainly did not regret my decision to head to cambodia.
Being trap in our fast pace daily lives has reduced our abilities to appreciate, and caused us to incline towards taking things for granted.
education is a privilege
Sg children take it as a given
But to poorer countries , it's a gift.
While I admit disparity is ultimately inevitable, I think it's that where and when you are born into, pretty much determines your fate for a good half of your life.
it's like poker, you can't control the hand you are dealt with, but only how you play the hand.
Okay I'm off topic again.
overseas cip- sometimes I really wonder whether doing OCIP is even beneficial to them at all.
okay on a short term basis I believe it is still beneficial to them because of the aids they will receive from foreigners.
ultimately, this culminates into a behavior of reliance to get by, without much incentives to improve their own lives substantially
So I really don't know what can be done to improve their lives on the long run, other than education. But then again, there's only that much foreigners can do, if the system in place isn't right to begin with.
Argh.
Maybe in their case, ignorance is bliss.
Not knowing that something better actually exist may just be the solution to contention.
But no matter what, I love siem reap despite all the tourist traps and stuffs.
The people there are just so lovely.
I will wanna head there again in the coming years
Okay. Here marks the end of my return.
I hope I'll do it consistently in days to come
